Ben Newman is a trial lawyer who runs a docket of high-exposure cases involving catastrophic injuries, deaths, and significant financial disputes. He specializes in products and premises liability as well as business and property litigation. And he has ample experience handling such matters in federal and state courts throughout Texas. Early in his cases, Mr. Newman emphasizes spotting key legal issues and conducting an extensive fact investigation, allowing him to efficiently navigate his clients through litigation and to a successful outcome.
After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Newman attended Baylor Law School, where he took advantage of its renowned trial program. He began his career with a boutique firm where he tried cases for Fortune 500 companies and represented high-net-worth individuals in financial and property disputes. He then joined Fee Smith in June of 2018.
Recent Trial Victories & Representative Experience:
Obtained a defense verdict at trial in a case where the plaintiff was injured on client’s property and claimed severe spinal injuries and lost use of dominant hand.
Obtained a defense verdict at trial in a case involving significant spinal injuries from a fall that occurred on client’s property.
Obtained a defense verdict at trial in case involving false-imprisonment allegations against client.
Obtained a favorable verdict at trial in products-liability action in which the jury awarded a mere $3,000––less than a third of Plaintiff’s medical expenses.
As second-chair counsel, obtained favorable settlement at trial involving trucking accident after the plaintiff’s case-in-chief: over $300,000 less than the pretrial demand.
On behalf of individual client, drafted and argued a summary-judgment motion to Dallas County District Court, and obtained a dismissal of claims to client’s real property appraised at over two million dollars.
Obtained complete dismissal on summary judgment in case where a worker was struck and severely injured by a collapsing boom on a construction site.
Obtained numerous summary judgments in cases defending Fortune 500 retailers in premises liability cases.
